ARE ENJOYING
MILD WINTER
The very mild Canon City winter has all 13 varieties of our grapes in fine shape right now. We lost our Cab Franc harvest last year and have experienced severe damage to some other varieties for the past three years. But so far this is the best winter we've had since we began planting seven years ago. We're looking forward to a bumper crop.
Of course we could still get frost damage this spring. And if it cools during the time the grapes are fertilizing we could experience what is called poor fruit set. But the biggest threat each year is absolute cold temperatures in late December, January and early February. We should be past the worst of the danger and we're very hopeful.
We begin pruning the first of April and will reopen the winery Saturdays and Sundays, 12-5 p.m., beginning the first Saturday in May. We look forward to seeing you all.
We strive to keep our wines affordable, and prices on 2010, 2011 and newly released 2012 wines will range from $9.95 to $14.95. Tasting are always free.

GOT GRAPES?
We don't just grow grapes, we try to develop grape growing in Canon City. We believe in building local agricultural infrastructure and a sustainable community. In fact, we have almost 20 small contract growers around the city. We pay over-market prices of 60 cents a pound for these varieties of grapes:
Chardonel, Cayuga White, Traminette, Frontenac, Norton, Riesling, Cab Franc, Noirette, Corot Noir, Chancellor, de Chanauc, Seyval, Zweigelt and Vignoles.
Groups love to visit our winery & vineyard
We welcome the Dawson Ranch homeowners association in September and a number of other groups already booked for October and November.
While our winery is normally open only on Saturdays during the spring and fall, we are always happy to entertain groups for receptions, wine tastings and vineyard tours. Groups like the Canon City Coop, the Gadabouts, the Canon Zonta club and the Canon City Garden Club are regular visitors. Call us at 719-315-2075 to arrange your group visit.
We have more than 1900 vines in the ground. We grow 11 varieties of grapes and specialize in small batches of unique wines not commonly available from a Colorado winery.
In addition, we trade some grapes and wines with other Colorado wineries to expand our line and to offer unique Colorado blends.
All of our wines are 100% a "Product of Colorado."
